Theft Prevention Tips

Security has recently witnessed several unattended open Garage Doors. Please note not only is this in violation of the Woodhaven Country Club HOA Rules but it is very unwise in light of recent thefts.

Please make sure to keep your garage door closed at all times and remember the other following theft prevention tips:

AUTO

Never leave your car running unattended, even for a few minutes.
Never leave any keys in the car or ignition, inside your garage, or in hide-
a-key boxes.
Always roll up your windows and lock the car, even if it is parked in front of your home.
Never leave valuables in plain view, even if your car is locked. Put them in the trunk out of sight.
Never leave personal identification documents, vehicle ownership title, or credit cards in your vehicle.
If you have a car alarm make sure it is activated.

HOME

Make sure all your doors and windows are locked.
Close your window treatments (blinds, curtains) at night or when you are away to prevent someone from looking inside your home.
Sliding glass doors should have a secondary lock installed or a wooden dowel rod placed in the track.
Make sure the locks on your windows are adequate and replace them as necessary.
Leave lights on when you go out and if you are going to be away for a length of time, connect some lights to an automated timer.
Keep your garage door closed and locked and make sure it closes all the way when you leave.
Do not allow buildup of newspapers at your home.
Change locks immediately if your keys are lost or stolen.
Never leave keys under doormats, flowerpots, or other obvious places. If possible leave the spare key with a neighbor.
Consider getting an alarm system installed as they are excellent for home security.
Be a good neighbor and if you notice anything suspicious call 911.

Theft Notice

Last Friday night at midnight the Maintenance trailer and a Sunshine Landscape Golf Cart were stolen from the HOA Maintenance yard at the Dumpster area. The cameras caught two men in a SUV that appears to be a Ford Bronco at the scene. They did not gain access through the back gate so they would have had to been let through the front gate or have been on property previously and stayed until they accomplished the theft.

Once again we would like all homeowners to report any strange activity to the Police or Security. In order to prevent incidents like this in the future the exit gate will be locked at 10:00 p.m. and any vehicles that leave property after 10:00 p.m. will have to be let out by the guard through the manual gate. Also we are looking into a better system of logging in vehicles which will include getting the makes and models and license plates of cars.

Also if anyone has any information on any activity they saw involving a Ford Bronco or similar type SUV on the Friday night in question (April 27, 2007) please report it to management at 760 346-9000.

Thank You
