We are in strong agreement to have the pavers replace the asphalt. The picture in the bulletin looks awesome. It really does make for high curb appeal.
Over time will also be a money saver for the owners.
Thanks to the person or persons that came up with that idea.

We really like the appearance of the pavers! Although initially expensive for each homeowner, it will save us in the long-run and increase our property value. Have you checked into the combination...concrete/pavers? It has a very nice appearance, too.

The pavers are a great idea! The new streets would not only update and enhance our community, but would save us money in the long run on repairs.

First I’d like to thank you for performing the research on the improvements…nice job!

While the pavers look very appealing, we do have some concerns that we hope will be addressed:

• Will the pavers increase traffic noise due to their rough surface?

• Will the pavers allow for speed humps?

• Should we be concerned about the potential for our elderly walkers tripping on pavers and the corresponding liability?

• Will the association have a chance to examine a current project which has been in place for several years to truly see how the pavers hold up?

• It’s mentioned that the pavers are guaranteed for life…what company is making this guarantee and how long have they been in business?

Also, it wasn’t mentioned whether the owners of the golf course will contribute to the cost of this project as it will definitely benefit them.

We like the look of pavers but think the color could be overwhelming on our long streets.

What will they look like in several years when they are stained by oil leaks? Will the color fade?

The statement that pavers could increase our value per unit as much as $25,000 seems unrealistic to us.

I like the idea of the pavers, but think the red color is overpwering. I think a nuetral color would be better. The red would overpower the flowers, etc.

I think the pavers are a fine idea, however the picture looks like common red brick maybe thats why people think they are too red.
Will the assessment be paid over time or all up front? Will the assessment have to be approved by a simple majority of homeowners or a larger %? These questions should be addressed now so there are no surprises in Sept. or Oct.

The pavers would look very nice. But like was mentioned eariler. What about tire tracks and oil stains?

We think the pavers would be a wonderful addition to our community. There are several issues to be answered brought up by the previous comments. You have our vote.

We like the idea of the pavers. The picture seems too red compared to the tile roof color. Does the 3,500 include the removal of the asphalt and do the pavers require additional substrate? What is the thickness of the pavers and who is the manufacturer? Will we need to stock extra pavers for repairs?
What asphalt surfaces will receive pavers?, club house parking? etc.?

We like the idea of the pavers and will support the project after some of the aforementioned concerns are addressed.

We look forward to additional information.

Thanks!

Most of our questions have been asked but would like clarification on the following:
1. What is the "Paver" material? Would also like to see dimensions and individual paver configuation
2. How long in service? Where?
3. Prior Installations inspected?
4. Will the Golf course do the same with their part of the entrance roadway and parking lot (and pay for it)? Also are they sharing the entrance repave cost? (WAshington to Woodhaven East")
5. Assume existing concrete curbs and gutters will not be replaced?

We would like to suggest the Boards comments to ours and other questions be posted on this Web site as available!

The sample pictures show a dramatic visual improvement potential for our "mature" complex and should enhance our value several times the cost! (Immediately)

Many or our concerns have already been expressed - but has anyone driven over a roadway done with pavers? It is extremely bumpy and noisy and should certainly be a consideration. We also don't agree that it will add $25,000 in value to our condos and find the cost extreme. We look forward to the board's answers to the questions and comments and hope they will be posted on this website.

I think the pavers would look good.
A 25K increase in property value is at best a pipe dream.

On the surface, the pavers solution sounds like a good idea. I would like the answsers to many of the questions posted thus far.

My real concern at the moment is the more pressing matter of gate security changes. (I find no place to voice our concerns on our website.)

First, the proposed two gates on East would do nothing for the homeowners except lock them in. Anyone coming in through the gates could have complete access to Woodhaven just by walking through the parking area or golf course.

The gates would do nothing but lock in the Woodhaven homeowners making entry or departure from their homes more difficult. Many walkers would be hindered by going through two gates to make one trip around the complex.

While I realize the security guard at the gate is little more than "window dressing," I think to install an electronic system instead of having a "live body" at the gate would definitely change the perception of Woodhaven Country Club and have a direct impact on property values.

Let's face it—one security guard has little or no authority. We already have the eyes of the residents of 504 condos. Someone driving around instead of being on the gate would not improve the situation.

This proposed electronic gate system sound like a win-win situation for the golf club owners (letting anyone have access) and a lose-lose situation for the homeowners at Woodhaven (being locked into their homes).

we are in complete agreement with the last message re the proposed gate change. What is the good of having a gated community when anynone can have access with the proposed changes. There must be a better solution.

We agree that the installation of pavers will enhance the country club's appearance and is a worthwhile expenditure to maintain our home investment and also differentiate our country club's appearance from the many others in the area. We are for it.

Thank you to the new board for the increased communications and dilegence in making for a better community.

Concerning the pavers. If it truly could be done for $3500, it seems to me money well spent. I have, however, some very strong reservations. We are currently installing a paver driveway/parking area at our residence is Spokane. I have researched pavers available in our area and have a major concern with the red pavers. They will fade in time, taking on a "pink" look. The wonderful thing about pavers is that they can easily be replaced if any failures occur. When that happens, and it will need patching, you will replace with new red pavers. I guarantee that you will end up with a red polka dot street. The only color that makes sense to me is a sand color. The color would blend well with the condos' exterior and the color difference between old and new would be negligible. I think you would be very disappointed with a red runway that becomes splotchy. I know you are trying to alleviate with new rules cars parking on the street, however, they still will and the cars will standout against the red runway and make for a choppy look. Another benefit to a tan or sand color is that it would not absorb heat as much as red and be considerably cooler for walkers.

Again, thank you for all your hard work, time and efforts.

The pavers are very expensive and I don't believe they will improve the property value stated. The asphalt is the way to go.

I agree that the pavers look very nice and will help the overall look of Woodhaven. I support this as long as the cost really stays at $3500, and doesn't creep up to $4000. I also would hope that the assessment could be paid in several installments for those homeowners who might be on a fixed budget.

We are opposed to the pavers--they would enhance the beauty of WH, but at what expense--This will cost over a million dollars, if each homeowner contributes $3,500.

Too much money

If the golf club will not contribute, I suggest you use the $80. or $90. per unit we give them ever month to pay for the pavers. That way the homeowners get something for there money.

As a builder and developer in the bay area, I can assure you that pavers add no value to an individual property.
It is impossible to install pavers for a cost of 1,750,000.00 to add a value of 126, 000,000 to the properties at Woodhaven. The dollar figure quoted in truly false.

Questions answered:

1)"Traffic noise is not a problem, according to the manufacturer. When driving within the speed limit the pavers I have driven on are very quiet".

2)"Speed bumps could be installed. They have proven to be not very helpful in slowing speeders, and are being considered for removal in the future".

It seems to me that we’re going to have a noise problem based on answer #2...

A brick colored street would look garish. Perhaps a pale gray, reminiscent of Eupopean cobblestone pavers.

Our neighbors put pavers on a very long driveway... it was done in the tile red. They have had it for 4 years and it looks wonderful. The color really is rather subdued and not at all "garish" as mentioned.. they also have the tile roof..beautiful match.

We support the idea of pavers. They will enhance the beauty of our wonderful community. We're so pleased that there appears to be overwhelming support for this idea. We would also support keeping the speed bumps, in some fashion. Some people don't pay attention to our speed limits. Thanks to the board for its good works. Bill and Mary Lee 41234 Woodhaven East

Sinced when dose 1.5% become overwhelming support? It is a stupid idea at best. It will cost a lot more than they think and add little. If it was that simple to add that much value to a property don't you think they would all be doing it. Wake up.
